Using methods such as Socratic dialogue, ample discussion, and integration of other subjects, the book teaches formal logic in the best way for dialectic students. The Discovery of Deduction is recommended after a study of informal fallacies, such as The Art of Argument: An Introduction to the Informal Fallacies; however, the text stands on its own as an independent study of formal logic.
