In the curriculum package, Memoria Press has designed and laid out a full year’s plan in a Curriculum Manual that provides day-by-day lesson plans for you the teacher!
Memoria Press’s Third Grade Curriculum can be a big jump from the world of basic skills and simple literature in the primary grades to the more difficult material in the grammar school, so they have structured the program to allow 3rd graders to work at a moderated pace. This will ease students into the more advanced workload of grammar school, while still proving a challenging classical Christian curriculum.
With the third grade package, students take a large leap as they are introduced to more subjects. To adequately prepare your students, Memoria has designed the lesson plans such that your student will take two years to complete D’Aulaires’ Greek Myths, Latina Christiana I, Christian Studies I, and English Grammar Recitation I. In these two years, as the parent, encourage your student to strive for mastery in these subjects.
To complete the Read-Aloud portion of the curriculum, you will need the weekly read-alouds and can choose from either novels or picture books. These can be purchased in a set from Memoria Press or gathered at the library, or you may already own many of these classic books.
The Third Grade Scope & Sequence resource explains what content is covered and which skills are acquired in this grade level.
