Alcock has provided sufficient graphics describing the atrocities committed against the Armenian Christians to make the reader emotionally moved by the intense suffering these Christians endured at the hands of Muslim Turks and Kurds. At the same time, the author herself has confessed to not wanting to provide full detail, which would take away from the focus on how those facing death did so with peace, being confident they would go to see their LORD, and so enjoy eternal peace. As such it is not only an enjoyable novel, but also encouraging reading. These Christians were determined to remain faithful to their God, regardless of the consequences.Sku: 9781894666008

The large and growing Mitchell family, transferring their location to Montreal, can’t find a house to buy or rent. They settle, over Mother’s protests, for a remote, rickety summer house in the woods near a lake. The dangers, antics, quarrels, and fun which now unroll bring each member of the family into vivid characterization. Meanwhile we meet some delightful French Canadians and taste the special qualities of rural Quebec in the late 1940’s. Illustrated by the author.Sku: 9781883937140

As the story of Cape Lost opens, an important new thread is about to be woven into the life of teenaged Gabrielle Allan. Home from boarding school for the summer holidays, she and Merry are once more happily on horseback. They are helping their Uncle Dunsany bring a herd of sheep to Cape Lost, the station owned by their Great-Uncle Garnet. Considered eccentric, Garnet Allan has lived all alone on the remote station bordering the sea ever since the mysterious disappearance of his young and beautiful wife many years before. Gay is curiously drawn to the homestead’s wild landscape, so different from the green, rolling hills of home, but does not expect to find herself also thrown smack into the middle of its mystery. Nor, in the subsequent years could she ever dream that her part in putting the rumors about Great-Aunt Vanessa to rest would so change the course of her life. With Uncle Dunsany now married, Hugh deep in his doctor’s training, Eve flourishing as an art student, and Merry showing an unexpected bent for study, Gay accepts that life holds change and unforeseen turns. Not that she likes all the changes. For instance, there’s Simon from England, who has taken over her and Merry’s jobs at Drovers Road; there’s the troubling relationship with her father; and there’s the puzzle of quiet Clive Scott, a close friend of her uncle’s, and the picture of his long-dead fiancée who looks so strangely like Gay herself. However, something is growing within Gay Allan that promises to rise to meet whatever challenge is next to come. This is the second book in the Drovers Road Collection. The first book in the series is Drovers Road. The third book in the series is The Golden Country.Sku: 9781932350791

Willy-Jane VanDyken in The Trumpet: This romantic novel is so filled with excitement and drama, it is difficult to put it down once one has begun it. Its pages reflect the struggle between choosing Satan’s ways or God’s ways. Mary’s struggles with materialism, being a submissive wife, coping with the criticism of others, learning how to deal with sickness and death of loved ones, trusting in God and overcoming the fear of death forces the reader to reflect on his own struggles in life. This story of Mary Ann Patten (remembered for being the first woman to take full command of a merchant sailing ship) is one that any teen or adult reader will enjoy. It will perhaps cause you to shed a few tears but it is bound to touch your heart and encourage you in your faith.Sku: 9780921100799

The dog seemed perfectly to understand the state of affairs, and was somewhat doubtful of the step the girl was about to take. He followed her slowly for a few yards, and then ran back and sniffed about the damp straw by the entrance, where he was used to sleep, and thrust his nose carefully among the smoldering sticks, which were the cause of this sudden flight. But as the girl disappeared among the trees, and whistled softly for him, he made up his mind to follow her, and the next minute the two were running as swiftly as the girl’s feet could carry her away from the only home she had.Sku: 9780921100949
