When the fighting was over, a young boy named Paul Dale was left an orphan, and John took care of him until they reached their destination. During that time, he grew extremely fond of little Paul, and when it was time to head out on the trail again, “Uncle John” just couldn’t leave the boy behind. It was a good thing, too, because no one was prepared for what happened on that trip.

These books are printed in a special dyslexia-friendly font that makes them easier for some children with visual processing problems to read. A special feature of the books is that each two-page spread contains a QR code that links to audio of the book being narrated. Children can listen and follow along to help them learn the words that they are seeing.
