A yearlong syllabus for teaching Windows to the World: An Introduction to Literary Analysis. This resource makes it easy. Also recommended: Teaching the Classics. This one-year course is to be used in conjunction with Teaching the Classics by Adam and Missy Andrews and Windows to the World by Lesha Myers. These lessons plans make it easy to give your high school student an introduction to literary analysis. The syllabus begins with an optional 5-week overview of Teaching the Classics. It will then take you through the Windows to the Worldprogram providing complete direction for teaching the course with the addition of a few short stories, two novels, and a play. You can change out the novels and play if you wish, or add another novel or two if desired. The entire course will provide a full year’s credit toward literary analysis. Including activities, quizzes, homework assignments, and grading options, the Teacher’s Notes in this syllabus contain step-by-step lesson plans to lead a weekly class of one or more students. The accompanying Student Homework Pages provide the student with clear homework instructions and grade sheets, so they know exactly what is expected. The Teacher’s Notes are appropriate for both new and experienced teachers. Previous experience with the Institute for Excellence in Writing’s Teaching Writing: Structure & Style will certainly make teaching and grading the writing part much easier, but it is not a requirement.4 GradesSku: 9781623410858Syllabus for Introduction to Literary Analysis ***Discounted***

However, their happiness is broken when Lucie’s husband becomes entangled with the people responsible for Doctor Manette’s imprisonment. Teaching the Classics is an eight-hour seminar that shows parents and teachers a powerful method for discussing literature. This method can be applied to any book at any grade level, regardless of the teacher's experience. It is Center For Lit's flagship product, and the foundation of all their work. The seminar builds on the idea that all works of fiction share the same basic elements, including Context, Structure, and Style. Lessons devoted to each of these elements explain how to identify them in any story and use them to understand an author's theme.14 GradesSku: 9780988898998

From the Publisher: The Acts of the Apostles is an unjustly under-read text of the New Testament. Its story is by now old news. From its humble beginnings within Judaism, Christianity survived its first decades and emerged as the most important world religion. Yet bypassing Acts because we know the ending misses out on the unfolding drama of the time. The first apostles struggled against the Jewish authorities and even quarreled among themselves, often with acrimony that modern Christians find unsettling. We should think of the earliest decades of Christianity as a white-hot crucible of conflict rather than a flower quietly unfolding and blooming. Putting this text in the hands of intermediate Latin students allows them to build on their years of study of a difficult language with a reading that is not only well within their grasp but is also of enduring importance. This text includes summaries of each chapter of Acts, vocabulary lists, historical and contextual notes, informative notes and maps, a scholarly introduction to the context in which Acts was written, and multiple appendices.
Dale Grote earned his PhD in Classics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989. He is the author of many scholarly articles on Sophocles, Plato, and Aristotle, as well as the widely used Comprehensive Guide to Wheelock's Latin. His last book, The Vulgate of Mark with Synoptic Parallels, is the first in a projected series of Latin readers for intermediate students based on the New Testament. He is currently at work on the third in the series on the seven "authentic" letters of Paul. He is associate professor of Classics at UNC Charlotte.
